Our communities united in celebration during last month’s Harmony Week and Neighbour Day, embracing cultural diversity and the power of connection.
Residents participated in a wonderful array of activities that brought people together, from casual neighbourhood picnics in the local parks to guided walking tours, street parties and long table dinners.
The events were designed to foster stronger community bonds and create a supportive environment where everyone feels welcomed and valued.
In Brabham Estate, WA, Maarakool Primary School hosted a Harmony Day celebration that included performances from the school choir, Bhangra dancers and the talented Cook Island Dance group, amongst others.

The event, in partnership with local organisations, offered the students and guests an opportunity to learn about each other’s cultures and participate in interactive activities such as receiving henna tattoos, traditional tea-making and enjoying treats from around the world.
“Events like Harmony Day bring people together celebrating our diverse backgrounds, while creating a wonderful sense of belonging,” said Arshad Khan, President of the Kingz Multicultural Club.
“They help neighbours connect, strengthen community bonds and make everyone feel at home.”
In Flagstone, QLD new residents had the opportunity to mingle with neighbours and local associations to learn about all that is on offer in their area. The opportunity to connect, talk and laugh with each other in a relaxed environment provided a welcome escape from the community anxiety following Cyclone Alfred.

“The thing that attracted us to Flagstone was us wanting to live in a community, not just in a home. We wanted to have that real sense of belonging and lots of activities and things to do for our young family,” said resident Kylie Williams.
“Everyone has been so welcoming, and these events provide such a nice way to meet new people and really bond with your community.”
A range of new events were launched across the communities, including a pier-to-pier beach walk in Fort Largs, SA and a yoga series in Lakelands Estate, WA offering further opportunities for residents to come together.

“These Harmony Week and Neighbour Day celebrations exemplify what makes Peet communities special places to live,” said Peet Managing Director and CEO, Brendan Gore.
“We’re dedicated to ensuring every resident experiences that sense of belonging that comes from being part of a welcoming, culturally diverse and supportive community.”
