A Friendly Place
It’s easy to settle into your new life at Googong and make true friends in no time. Our Community Manager is dedicated to fostering community connections and bringing people together for events, environmental education programs, parents groups, seniors groups, parties, picnics and sporting events, and any excuse for fun. When a third your township is dedicated to open spaces, it makes sence that we love an active lifestyle too. There are countless parks, playgrounds and places to explore.
Parks Playgrounds and Fun Spaces
Not only is our town very spacious and green on the inside (32% of the town will be parks and open spaces), but we’re also fortunate enough to be right next door to the permanently protected beauty of the Googong Dam and Foreshores nature reserve. There’s nothing better than immersing yourself in nature, and at Googong, we’ve designed our community to embrace the natural beauty around us. There’s also great indoor facilities too to keep you active all year ’round.
Bunyip Park
Our Bunyip themed playground is located adjacent to a billabong (of course), and our Googong Sales Centre. The playground is fenced, and there are BBQs, shelter, and toilets.

Lovegrove All-Abilities Playground
This All-Abilities playground is located adjacent to the Googong North Village Centre. The playground is fenced, and there are BBQs and shelter.

Yerradhang Nguru – Gumnut Playground

Beltana Park Playground
Cute park with amphitheatre and creekline, playground, spiderweb climbing frame, net swings, pot cubbyhouses, BBQ’s, shelter, toilets, and two council operated tennis courts.

Duncan Fields Playground
Duncan Playing Fields includes a great little playground. There’s a half court basketball court, balancing equipment, rope swing, climbing equipment and mini-trampolines. There’s toilets, shelter and BBQ’s.

Rockley Oval Playground
Rockley Oval Playground includes climbing walls, slides, and swings. The oval is used for cricket and Australian Rules Football. There are BBQ’s, toilets and shelter.

Sportfields
We currently have six lit sportsfields, and will eventually be a total of ten including one with an athletics track. All sportsfields have toilets, BBQs, shelter and playgrounds. Duncan Fields playground includes mini-trampolines. Rockley Oval includes a climbing wall and cricket nets. Our newest ovals include Brooks Oval and Gulaj Oval in our sports precinct. There are a number of sporting groups in the town including Googong Hogs mens and womens AFL, Googong Hogs netball, Queanbeyan Junior Cricket, and Monaro Panthers Soccer (all ages).

Dog Parks
Googong has three dog parks for four-legged residents and their two-legged owners to enjoy. Rockley Oval includes an agiliy play park. Barkley Park is especially large and includes a dam. A third dog park, Scentral Bark, has two fenced areas for large or small dogs.

Skatepark and Basketball
Plenty of great lines and an excellent mini bowl is on offer at the Googong Skatepark. There’s a DJ booth and a basketball court, as well as an oval and cricket nets adjacent. This is part of the Googong Sports Precinct with frisbee golf, mini putt put golf, fitness trail, pump track and ovals nearby. All facilities are free, open and accessible year round.

Pump Track
The Googong pump track stretches a combined 2,600 sq metres and includes a beginner track (62m) and an intermediate track (250m). With bumps and rollers ranging from 500mm to over 1 metre, it promises an exhilarating ride for everyone, from young children finding their balance to seasoned riders looking to push their limits. The track is free, open and accessible year round.

Mini Putt Putt Golf
Everyone is welcome to play the course and it is free, open and accessible year round. BYO putter and balls.

Netball Courts
We have six lit netball courts and an active netball club with Googong Hogs Netball. The site has toilets, shelter and BBQ facilities, and is adjacent to the future Indoor Sports and Aquatic Centre which will provide additional facilities for the courts.

Community Garden
Googong has a thriving community garden (and another two are planned) where residents can meet to grow veggies, flowers… and friendships!

Tennis Courts and Future Tennis Centre
There are two tennis courts available for hire in Beltana Park that are run by Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council. A six-court tennis centre is proposed in the coming years on Glenrock Drive.

Future Indoor Sports and Aquatic Centre
Googong township will build an 8-lane 25m indoor pool and children’s wading pool, as well as a double indoor basketball/ multipurpose hall. It is located adjacent to the netball courts to support that facility also. Images are Artists’ Impression.

Aquatots Swim School
AQUATOTS run a private swim school in Club Googong. The club includes an 8-lane 25m indoor pool and outdoor splash deck.

Googong Dam and Foreshores
Googong Dam and Foreshores provides an incredible recreational resource for Googonians, and the dam itself is regarded as one of the best inland fishing spots in Australia. The dam is a water catchment area so electric motors and kayaks are the best way to get about, and dogs and swimming are not permitted. There are awesome mountain bike and hiking/running trails around the dam – and we have a brochure with maps that you can collect from our Sales Centre to help you find your way. The Cascades is a great swimming spot nearby, with deep pools just a short stroll from the carpark.

The Cascades Waterhole
Googong Cascades is surrounded by steep granite rocks, and is made up of several large water holes. It’s the sort of place we’d normally hike for hours to reach, yet here it is on the edge of Googong and only a five minute walk from the carpark. It’s a great spot for swimming to cool off in the summer.
