History of Nudgee
It is recorded that the Turrbul people, who long inhabited the seashore, creeks and lagoons of what we now know as Nudgee Beach, were a branch of the Yugarabul clan, and the name Nudgee comes from the Yugarabul dialect – na’dah or nedgee meaning ‘place of the ducks’.
The area continued to provided reliable sources of water and food for the community of farm settlements that were established around the 1860’s.
A little slice of Nudgee’s history will live on at Little Eagle, where timber from World War II warehouses will be integrated into landscape elements, connecting new residents to a place that has been shared by others for centuries.
