On Saturday, 23 November 2024 we held the Brabham 2024 EcoFest at Brabham Primary School.
Despite the hot weather, there was a fantastic turnout of people with around 150 community members attending.
This year saw the addition of the Ellenbrook Lions Club who ran the sausage sizzle and provided ‘train rides’ for the kids. Other stalls included a Toys Swap, a Clothes Swap, a Repair Cafe, a Plarning Craft activity, a FOGO bin planting stall and a DIY sustainable gift stall.
The Repair Café and the Clothing Swap proved to be a popular combination, with community members finding ‘new’ clothes to wear, that were then altered by the Repair Café team. The Repair Café team were also popular with young children who brought along their broken teddies to get new eyes, ears, and other body parts!
The event was a moment for community connections as well as an opportunity for the community to learn ways they can live more eco-friendly lives and understand the principles of the circular economy.
We wish everyone a happy festive season and look forward to seeing you again in the New Year.
