On Friday 26 July 2024, Brabham Primary School in partnership with Peet and Brabham Estate celebrated National Tree Planting Day. An initiative to teach school students about caring for the local environment. 2024 marked the second instalment of this now annual event in Brabham. The planting day saw the Brabham Primary School’s Green Team work with Tranen to plant 250 new trees in Brabham Estates constructed wetlands. Damian from Tranen introduced the activity by sharing the species that were being planted as well as the importance of revegetation, and how by revegetating natural bushland, we can support the development of a healthy local environment. He then demonstrated the best way to plant the seedlings to deliver the best outcomes for the sustainable growth. The Green Team spent the afternoon planting out the space and installing the tree guards to ensure the plants get the best opportunity to thrive. Brabham Primary School Teacher and Green Team Leader Jessica Fisher said: “We feel very fortunate to take part in a meaningful excursion to plant new trees in a local bushland area. Brabham Primary School deeply values this initiative, as it aligns with our commitment to environmental stewardship and providing students with practical, impactful learning opportunities. We look forward to watching these trees flourish over the years to come.”
